Sarah was the first woman to light the Shabbat Candles. Her candles burned from when she light them friday afternoon, untill the following friday afternoon. It was a great miracle. All week long, they made everything in her home shine-everything they ate, everything they owned, and everything they did. She passed that power on to her great-granddaughters for all generations. From these Shabbat Candles, we get the power to overcome any problems we may face in the coming week.
When one Jewish girl lights a single candle just before sunset on friday, says a blessing and a heartfelt prayer, she is not alone. She is lighting together with all the Jewish mothers and daughters for hundreds of generations. Now that is a awesome amount of light. The peace, joy and happiness that is brought about from lighting the Shabbat candles, is totally worth it. Try it and see for yourself.

Reflection
Sarah the first of our Imahot(mother of all mothers), overcame the challenges which came her way, by looking at the bright side. As Sarahs daughter, each Jewish Woman and Girl has that same amazing ability, to turn hardships into hope and dark moments into bright ones.
